Circle Red S Farms is a Registered Pinzgauer seed stock breeder located in East Central Alabama. We are approximately 100 miles from Atlanta GA, Birmingham AL, and Montgomery, AL. We have been breeding Pinzgauer cattle since 1999. We primarily sell private treaty breeding stock and freezer beef. Our butchered steers have averaged 743 lbs HW, YG 2.24, QG Ch, REA 13.1. The Circle Red S was the pioneer in Pinzgauer DNA testing for tenderness. Over 80 bulls have been GeneSTAR Tenderness DNA tested, including 10 of the original imported/foundation bulls, with 85% GeneSTAR 2 Stars or better. This compares with 76% for Angus. Only GeneSTAR 2 or better bulls are retained or sold. The highest tenderness tested Pinzgauer bull, CRS Provost, was bred on the Circle Red S. We currently have 4 MARC III composite cows with Pinzgauer-x calves on the ground. MARC III composites are 75% British and 25% Pinzgauer and make up 70% of the USDA Meat Animal Research Center herd. Just like the poultry and pork industries, the future of the beef industry is not in a single breed, but is a composite, taking advantage of hybred vigor and hetrosis.
